Hi,

I know iMacs normally run really very quiet. But I got my new one today and the fans are making a huge amount of noise for no reason.

As soon as I turned it on the first time, the fans wound up and are making a sound which rivals the Xbox 360.

I am hoping there is a simple solution, screenshot of iMac temperature and fan speed attached.

Thanks

Does that have control over the fans as soon as the mac starts? Because the fans start up as soon as the apple logo appears.

It then slows down after a while in leopard, but never stops in windows.

if your hd temp is 58 celcius that is pretty hot!! it should not stay that temp

if your machine is new today? maybe spotlight indexing

that means your hd is working so high temp so fans are on

see how it is tomorrow

The conclusion to this was: Send it back

New one on it's way.
