So today when I was installing the security update, I noticed my iMac's display having a blacker spot in left hand side. It's only visible with blueish background and on the boot screen while backlight and LCD are warming up.

It's from my Safari window which is almost all the time on that place but I noticed some same kinda a blackness on the bottom of the screen where my dock is. I read the Apple support article and changed my background to solid white and hide my dock.

So I'm wondering, how long does an image persistence last in LCDs? I know it should not be permanent but it's still annoying. With solid white, it's not recognizable unless I really look at it

Oh I had an LCD burn in with my 24". It wasn't very visible for a while but then it started coming back more and more and they replaced EVERYTHING underneath the sun!

They first started off by replacing the power supply and all the cabeles, logic board, video card and then finally decided to replace the LCD at that point. A week later I could visibly read better the words that weren't there on my screen on my backdrop picture.

They did all these steps because if you turn the computer off long enough it will go away but will return.

Mine was on the other side. I could actually see the Facebook icons on the bottom of the screen! They will get thicker and darker the longer.

They also thought it was dust behind. I didn't have very good Apple Geniuses! HAHA

If you have Apple Care start taking it in and having them replace things. If you have 3 major repairs and the problem is still there they will replace it like they did for me.

Well, I'll try to fix it on my own first but if it still exists after weekend, I'm gonna call AppleCare. I have the AppleCare and my iMac would be one week out of warranty if I didn't so I'm happy that I bought it.
