2.66 Ghz, running 4Gig ram. Installed Snow Leopard earlier in the week.

Problem: I'm now having to wake the machine up by the power button.

Bought machine this summer, has been running fine until yesterday when I got home from work I noticed it wouldn't wake from sleep. At first I blamed the kids for possibly shutting down the machine but they denied it. This morning when I went to use the machine it wouldn't wake up again. This time I know was the last to use it last night and the first to touch it this a.m. i.e. it's not the kids messing with it.

I installed SL on Tues and haven't seen any odd symptoms until yesterday so I'm thinking it's not SL that immediately caused this condition?

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated!

maybe something is wrong with your display / screensaver / energy saver settings

I haven't changed anything on my settings for since immediately unboxing the computer and when I looked at the settings today nothing seemed to pop up at me indicating any reason for this behavior.

Try a SMC reset.

Unplug everything from the back of the iMac (including the power cable) for 15 seconds then plug everything back in and turn if back on and see if computer will wake from sleep.

Check Apple Support Forums

This is the kind of issue I have solved in the past using Apple's support forums. I had this same waking-from-sleep issue with an older machine some time ago and that's where I learned how to solve it. It was so long ago I don't remember and it probably would not be relevant now, anyway.
