So now that we have a 24" iMac and given the loads of problems reported with the 23" ACD's anyone think we might see new Cinema Displays on the 12th to go with our new iMovie store?

No.

Insightful post

The only reason why I don't see it happening is the fact that both the 23" ACD and 24" iMac screen have the same resolution - they're both HD. The panel in the 23" ACD is very, very nice - I don't think we'll see any changes until an update to the Mac Pro last year (and even then, who knows)

Do we have a 17"ACD just because iMac does?

I mean logic would state that we should, right?

My only reason to believe that a 24" ACD could be possible is that the 23" ACD has had so many issues since it's release. I mean there are large numbers of posts in which folks have returned multiples of these units for defects and this includes even the newly released panels. Given now that at least we know they have a 24" panel if these panels prove to be of higher quality would it not make sense for Apple to do away with the 23". Not to mention that Apple presently has a somewhat non-standard size against the Dell 2407 or Samsung 244T.

Different panels and Apple released the Apple Cinema Display 23" before any of the others had their 24" offerings. At least to my knowledge :)
