I moved to Japan a few weeks ago for my studies.
One of the things I needed to do was to get my new 15 Pro Max here since my XS is struggling to keep up with the bad third-party battery.
I was waiting for a whole year in excitement just to see the 15 Pro Max announcement.
I preordered my iPhone for launch day pickup.
However, when I had to look for the order number, I stupidly canceled my order by accident, because I was unable to read 'order cancel' in Japanese (I know 0% Kanji).
Then I worked hard to find any remaining iPhone 15 Pro Max stocks.
I went to electronic stores (Bic/Yodobashi Camera) in Japan, but the 15 Pro Max is listed as 'Unable to reserve'.
Carriers just say 'Reservations accepted', but you also have to wait months, and I don't want to pay their additional device fees and contracts.
Apple Store Japan does not allow lining up for walk-in purchases, and the rule applies for 15 Pro and Pro Max only.
So as a last resort, I am still looking for pickup inventory everyday.
I wake up every morning and set the InventoryWatch site to auto refresh every 1 second.
I do see one inventory everyday, but because Japanese scalpers are so fast, I can never get the available inventory even if I try.
At this point I don't know what to do.
It would be a bad value to get the XS battery replaced after Apple increased their battery prices.
But my XS is so slow and has battery drains because of that third party battery.
I have the option to buy the iPhone from South Korea, since their preorder starts on 10/6 12am, and launch day is on 10/13.
I have Korean relatives who can send me the phone to my Japanese address.
It's so hard to get a new iPhone these days...
P.S. I hate Apple for increasing their battery prices. In my home country, Samsung replaced the Z Fold 4 battery for just $30!
EDIT: I do have a 15 Pro Max delivery that arrives in mid November, but that wait time is too long...
