So I tried asking my Korean relatives if they could receive the 15 Pro Max on the 10/13 launch day in South Korea, and then send it to my address in Japan.

They told me that the Korean post office requires the customer to write down the phone IMEI and attach an IMEI information document for shipping a used phone to other countries.

This applies even when just sending the unboxed phone, then putting in just the phone inside the box.

In this case, would the Japan customs take a closer look at the attached IMEI documents?

I wouldn't attempt to get the phone from Korea if customs held my package and asked me to pay import taxes!

I am thinking about the Korea route because my 15 Pro Max shipment comes in mid-November and there is absolutely no pickup inventory available til late November here.
