Hello everyone,

I live in Korea and have bought a new iMac with M1 chip without knowing anything such as the mac not being able to use boot camp for Windows which really is an issue because important Korean websites like bank sites do not work with Macs at all literally. Anyway, I have a broken 2019 MacBook Pro which turns on but with the screen being completely black. I have tried to get it fixed by a professional but the person said that I was better off buying a new computer since the repair cost was over 1300 dollars (of course converted from Korean Won). I've always used Macs since high school starting with the white MacBook I've had which lasted me over 10 years without any problems until I spilled beer on the keyboard while watching a movie which completely destroyed it with a poof sound instantly. This incident made me completely lose all of my 10 years worth of photos and important datas and such. Additionally, I've also had two 27 inch iMacs in which one of them was given to my sister as a present and the other newer 2020 model which was taken away from my evil soon to be ex-wife about 4 months ago without any notice. Since I'm going through this horrible divorce lawsuit, I needed a computer to draft documents for my lawyer, and of course I've ended up buying the iMac with the M1 chip since I've always loved Macs even though I'm not a computer expert or anything but for the pure ease of use with the beautiful designs. I was quite disappointed when the MacBook Pro went broken (I know it turns on because when I press the caps key the green light shows although the screen is completely black). Once again, I've lost all of my datas including valuable photos and datas which I've stupidly backed up from the two iMacs to the broken MacBook Pro thinking that it would last over 10 years like the old white MacBook I've always loved carrying around as a young student. I know I should have used time Machine or actually paid for larger iCloud space to back up the datas but I know it's all of my fault and I have no pictures or all the beautiful letters I've written to my non-soon to ex-wife and there's nothing to do about it. For your information, I need evidence for my on-going divorce lawsuit, and all I have are screenshots of chat messages with the devil soon to be ex-wife from my iPhone.

Enough of my long story about my relationship with the Macs and thanks for reading the top paragraph. Now, here is the real reason why I'm writing in this forum. I really need some help. I've bought the M1 iMac exactly 78 days before, and two days ago, suddenly a horizontal line appeared on the bottom of the screen. Also, there is a vertical line that is on the very right side of the screen which is pink. The horizontal line changes colors but I have attached a picture of the line when it was green. Is there a way to fix it? I've tried everything from resetting the mac by draining the power (knowing that the SMC reset? or PRAM reset? is not an option for M1 Macs and I know this by searching Google all day for like 10 hours) by turning off the iMac over 10 seconds and also have performed a diagnostic test but in which the lines did not disappear. I've even tried gently massaging the the part of the screen where the two lines meet... I know I was desperate and so sad. Could anyone explain what might have caused this since the iMac has been on my desk and have not been touched by anyone or has had any force put on it whatsoever and I can promise that because I do not lie at court, accuse of something I haven't done, or lie so easily like my soon to be satin ex-wife.

Two things I worry is that if I go try to get it fixed at an authorized Apple store, since I can't prove that it is a manufactural damage and probably have to pay a hefty amount of money to replace the whole screen since I think it's a hardware problem. The second thing is that what should I do to prevent further lines from occurring in the future. After two days, I think I can live with the two lines but I really don't want more new lines to appear with the hope that the iMac would last for more than three years. I look forward to any of your replies and thanks in advance for the kind assistance. I've had nowhere to go but here. Please also see the picture I've attached.

Sorry for the long writing. Now that I think about it, I could have just asked what's up with the two lines. I am going through a lot these days and everything seems to be failing including the new iMac. Thanks for your understanding.

The picture did not get attached for some reason. I've saved it as .png file. I'll try again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you want to try to fix on your own - open up the iMac enclosure, which means slicing through the tape that holds it together. iFixit has a teardown for that.
Once inside, reseat the cables that connect the LCD screen to the logic board.
Power on, to check if the lines are gone.
But, if that did not help (I'm not too confident about that anyway), then your attempt at repair will be obvious to a repair tech, and will likely void any warranty. There is no visible damage on the outside (can't see the back in your pictures, however), and you may find out that it is a failure covered under warranty, so don't try any "fix" before taking it to an Apple store, or AASP - if you have one convenient to you. Hopefully, you will get a warranty repair.
Physical damage, something dropped on the screen, or the iMac was dropped, or a pressure break on the LCD, usually will give more lines, crossing over at the damage point, often with a range of colours through the "break" area -- something that should be more pronounced than what you show. I think it is a failure, and not accidental damage.

If there is no evidence of impact or liquid damage, and it is within 1 yr warranty, just take it to an Apple store.
I don't know about Korea, but usually to deny a warranty claim Apple has to prove that it is your fault, not the other way round.

btw, I assume you mean Satan ex-wife, not satin ex-wife :) (Sorry for your troubles)

It's ded. Get it fixed with warranty.
As for the data just get it extracted.
Unless that drive melted you can get a lot of data back.
Spills usually fry the mobo while drives survive without issues.

As for the sites not working on a mac... try installing chrome or firefox? Mac should have nothing to do with it unless you are forced to install some special software.
