I recently bought an ipod classic modified with an sdxc card to 256gb, and it has been working fine for about 3 months or so. I was playing it, and when the song on an album finished, it went weird. I used the clickwheel to get the screen to go back to my coverflow of albums to pick another to play, it would not come back up, then it did, and when I tried to pick another album to play, the album art went all botchy colors, and all the other albums in cover flow were missing the art, it would load the album, but it would not start to play, just showed with blotcy album art.
when I got home and plugged it into itunes, I got a message saying ipod is corrupt, with an error message, showing it with no music on it, but in a few seconds after this, it connects, I see my albums again, and itunes sees it and it is normal again. I then disconnect from itunes, and it is all normal again, albums are there.
so now it seems itunes got it going again, but I wonder if it is damaged somehow. I dont know what or if I did anything wrong with it, I loaded an mp3 track on it that I recently downloaded free online. all my other music on it is m4a. would this cause problems?
I know it is hard to tell exactly what caused this incident of crazy behavior for this ipod, there are so many factors.
I do plug it into a powered usb port on a hub, there are just not enough usb ports on my macmini, and the main ports are used by my keyboard and wacom.
