Please help ! down to these two , I prefer a bigger screen , but if it's generally a better computer.
I will sacrifice the size of the screen !

Here are the specs of the two iMacs

Late 2013 iMac 21.5 , 1.12 tab fusion drive, 8gb ram 3.1 ghz i7
850$ Canadian or 640$ US

Or

Mid 2011 iMac 27' , 256 ssd , 8gb ram , 2.5ghz i5
510$ Canadian or 385$ US

I like the 2013 model, I went and tested it out , it's fast , I'm just worried if I'm using apps the 8gb ram won't be enough and hard to upgrade on this model , where with the 2011 I can easily upgrade that model to 16gb , and this computer is way cheaper then the 2013 I looked at . I havnt seen it yet , but person told me its in excellent condition , the 2013 model was used in a store , the 2011 was used for an editing student , if thst helps

I myself would not go for the 2011 one because of usb2 ports. There are places that would service it if you did have a problem with it.Iwould never use Apple for repair far to exspencive.

The 1tb fusion drives have a SSD that is too small for good performance. Either go with a pure SSD or one with the 2 or 3 tb fusion. I have a problem with the larger screen sizes due to my need for bifocals. I have to tilt my head too much to see the top of the screen.

NEITHER of the above.

Look for something 27", 2013 or later (later is preferable).

You want the 27" display AND USB3.

Hey guys!

After reading this thread, I was wondering... since you're big fans of the iMac 27" 2009-2011 at this forum... ;)

Would you replace an iMac 27" Mid-2011, i5 3.1 GHz, 16GB RAM 1333MHz, recently updated GPU K1100 2GB for an iMac 21.5" Late-2013, i5 2.7 GHz, 8GB RAM 1666Mhz (can be upgraded to 16GB too), GPU Iris Pro 5200 1.5GB? (both with SSD).

I mean, apart from the screen size, I made Geekbench 5 tests and the results are:

- iMac 2011:
  1. Single Core Score: 703
  2. Multi Core Score: 2307
  3. OpenCL Score: 1487
  4. Metal Score: 1653
- iMac 2013:
  1. Single Core Score: 803
  2. Multi Core Score: 2822
  3. OpenCL Score: 4795
  4. Metal Score: 516
I mean, there's not a huge difference between both tests, so I don't know if it's worth it!

What do you think guys?

Thx! ;)

Yes! that's the best option... but I mean, I have the chance to get an iMac 21.5" Late-2013 very cheap, so I don't know what to do. I have to choose between them ;)

Thx!

If the price is right you should go for it, if you don,t mind the smaller screen size.

If it is in good nick , and you don,t mind the smaller screen I would go for that plus you are getting it for a good price and it is two years newer with USB3.:)
