Hi, never posted here before, but have followed along with some upgrades on different macs based on the incredibly helpful guides in this forum!
I've recently aquired a base level 27", 2017 imac (3.4ghz 1TBfusion 8gb ram).
I've upgraded the ram, but I would like to have faster read/write for storing more applications on the system.
I want to be able to have multiple operating systems in volumes, ranging from 10.12 (sierra) to at least 12.6.2 (Monterrey) as I want to be able to take advantage of 32 bit and 64 bit software.
I have two questions:
I currently have a spare apple 256gb ssd (2017 production date, taken from a macbook pro) I asssume that drive will work in the NVME slot, and it will run 10.12 (as it did previously)?
For the HDD replacement, are there any SSD's that I should avoid if I want to run 10.12 and 12.6.2 and above? I've been looking, but I haven't been able to find any conclusive information regarding compatibility with Sierra and SSD drives. If anyone has any information I would be very appreciative.
Currently I'm leaning toward getting a 1tb or 2tb OWC 6G SSD as a kit for the HDD upgrade, but I could also buy the parts myself and save some $.
Thanks!
