I'm looking for recommendations for a 27-30" 4K monitor with a videocamera and built-in speakers for a M1 Mac Mini I'm planning to buy. I'm confused if an LG is a better option, but I see they've been discontinued from the Apple Store.

other than being a 5K monitor, the LG 5K offered by apple for the mini fits your bill (speakers, cam)

I need to get an external monitor as well, so I am interested in others recommendations with this.

I wouldn't mind using an external camera (I like the Logitech Brio cam), but bezels are so thin these days that there isn't much options for mounting.

You may want to consider getting a separate webcam. Large monitors rarely come with a webcam, because pointing the fixed lens at the user can get awkward.

I've been using LG 27UN850-W as a secondary display for my iMac. It's reasonably priced for a 27" 4K HRD monitor, and the quality seems better than in the old LG 5K monitor I had at office. 27UP850-W is supposed to be this year's model.

I have an old 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display connected to my M1 Mac mini using an adapter.

This works perfectly - and of course has the built in speakers and webcam.

An excellent option if you can source one secondhand.

Am sitting here looking for a temporary display until the iMacs are released and I'd genuinely forgotten all about these. Have seen a couple of videos of people using them with recent machines via that adapter and all looks good so I think I'll try to find one.

I have the M1 Mac mini with the LG Ultrafine 5K. I bought it because of its integrated camera and speakers. Like it very much but of course, it is rather expensive (worth the money IMO), and seems difficult to obtain. In my country (Germany), the LG website still lists the device but says "currently not available".
But if you can get hold of one, I would recommend it.
