Hello iMac forum!

I just picked up a late 2014 27" iMac 5k. I want to take out the HDD/blade and run a 2TB NVMe as the main system drive. I have an adapter that I've used in both my 2013 Mac Pro as well as some 2013-2015 MacBook Pros that allowed this pretty easily. at first I thought "no problem" I was an apple tech for years and have extensive experience taking them apart and repairing and upgrading them, but haven't exactly done this with a 2014 5k iMac before, I read something about there possibly being a sleep wake issue from doing this?

Can anyone clarify if this is the case?
I've always used This guide when picking out SSD's for compatibility.
If anyone can chime in please let me know
