Since I know forums tend to be inundated with negative comments, and people rarely talk about the things that go well, I decided to give my own experiences.

I'd bee waiting on buying a 27"er for a while now, ever since the last revision was announced. First it was a matter of money, then the screen problems scared me off. Yesterday, I finally pulled the trigger on a Core i7 (as well as the Magic Trackpad) and I'm very happy to say that after a battery of tests it's perfect. No screen issues in any way, shape, or form. No odd noises, no buzzes or whines, nothing. In fact, aside from the hard drive seeking (I'm in a very quiet room) it's been dead silent the whole time - not even fan noise.

Just wanted to provide a voice of positivity.

Thanks OP!

Everyone I know who has iMacs have perfect ones too and my 27inch ACDs are perfect.

Thats the problem with the internet, most people have perfect ones but you never hear about it, you only hear about the problems and most of those are usually trolls : /

i'm with the OP. i have had my 27" i7 for 2 months or so. this forum had me scared to death i had made a mistake buying this machine. but after staring at my screen, downloading all the various screen test patterns, hovering over the machine listening for demons inside, waiting for the computer to spontaneously combust due to overheating, and hoping everyday that my HD wouldn't fail.

i can say that my machine is fine, no yellow tint, no noises other than typical HD noise and i finally put away the fire extinguisher.

regarding the HD failure, it's day by day. i had 2 previous iMac's and both of them had HD failure within 6 months of ownership. both were the White G5's, 1 with built in iSight and 1 without.

my current i7 2.93GHz (mid 2010 model) is a US built model (SN# QP) that i picked up at a local Apple store.
