anyway.. i don't really know the answer.. but as the 27" does support video IN.. maybe it would..
using the hdmi -> displayport perhaps?

No it won't. Not unless you can get a DVI to Display Port signal converter. Apple's current cable converters can convert Display Port to DVI but not the other way around. They're different signals so need to be converted.
At least one company is working on a converter though.
