Should I order a core i7 or go to the apple store and buy a core i5? With all of the problems that people are reporting I'm a little nervous. I plan on using this machine for everyday task plus some minor video encoding of home moves to use with the apple tv. The shipping delay dose'nt bother me that much.

Jesus H Christ how many more of these threads are people going to make? If you're doing heavy encoding/transcoding or use apps that need 8 threads, or want a slightly more future-proof Mac, get the i7. If not, the i5 is good enough.

I apologize if my inquiry offended you, I was looking for advice from other people on wether to take the chance on ordering i7 versus purchasing the i5 in the store since the stores only stock the i5 model.

There are dozens of threads on this. Nobody can tell you whether buying in store or online is more likely to give you a bad machine. It's a chance you have to take. Though if you think...the i5s in the store are more likely to have "issues" than the i7's that are taking two weeks to ship...that's pretty much common sense.

Nobody held a gun to your head and forced you to read and reply. You big baby.

The complaining is totally valid.....redundant (10-15x) threads like these clutter and dilute the forum. It would literally take 10 seconds of scrolling down the page to realize that this question is not just contained within literally dozens of threads, but is actually the title of many. The question itself is perfectly valid, but please just take a moment and look around. Your situation is hardly unique and thus do you really need 10 people to repeat the exact same advice that has been covered ad nauseam all over the web?

Agree. Could have been more polite about it.

I actually reject your response and substitute the one below...
