I bought the 2010 27" i7 iMac two months ago. Until this week I had no problems with it, but then a couple days ago, out of nowhere, it wouldn't boot up. When I turned it on the normal grey screen with the apple logo came up, but it took a really long time to move on. And when it did move on, it went to a blank blue screen with the cursor in the upper left corner and just stayed there. I tried booting in safe mode but it did the same thing. Next I verified the disk, found an error, repaired the disk, and then reinstalled the OS. All of these processes took an unusually long time. After restarting it still did the same thing and ended up at the blank blue screen. But this time it also showed a weird pixelated screen for a few seconds before the blue screen.
So I erased the drive completely and did a fresh install of the OS. Still no luck. It boots to a blank black screen and seems to be stuck there.
Seems like a hardware problem to me. Very disappointed right now. Taking it back hoping they'll give me a replacement. Anybody else experienced anything like this and know what the problem could be?
