27" iMac (2017) USB-C to HDMI Adapter

Is the specific Belkin USB-C to HDMI Adapter sold by Apple worth the extra money in trouble-free operation compared to the generic adapters you can buy on Amazon, etc?

My application is simple streaming from my iMac to my TV.

If a good alternative does exist, what is the best specific recommendation?

If the tv is "HD" (1080p), I'll guess that almost any adapter will work.
If the tv is 4k, that may change things.
