Any of you that have problems with their new 27" iMacs

has anyone gotten anything free from apple for inconvenience for having to get a replacements or having to ship your computer to repair and such

I ask cuz there are always those people that ask, and sometimes they get so just wondering if anyone has tried to say look what can u do or give me for the troubles?

There is a likelihood they wont do anything but one never knows.

You should at least ask them for a free upgrade to 2-day shipping for a replacement, if you are dealing with the online store.

Had a noisy 1TB HDD and they upgraded my replacement to 2TB for free. Think I was quite lucky to get this though and I wasn't angling for a freebie for the sake of it and had offered to meet them halfway on cost for the sake of avoiding a noisy 1TB Seagate for the perceived quieter 2TB Hitachi.

I called technical support to ask them if they had any idea when Apple would be shipping iMacs without the yellow tinge. The rep transferred me to a senior advisor when she heard that I have been through four of these iMacs each with the same issue(s). The senior advisor offered to send me a gift from the Apple Store for my troubles. I chose a 1 TB external HD which was overnighted to me.

Mind you I didn't even ask for any of this. I was extremely polite to both representatives, I wasn't complaining, I didn't ask to be transferred to a senior advisor, I didn't ask for a gift from Apple, and I certainly didn't ask for the gift to be overnighted to me. Later that afternoon I received a phone call from an engineer who wanted all of the info that I had about the yellow tinge issue with my iMacs.

Hrmmm? Maybe I can get them to upgrade me from my i5 to an i7 next time :D

Please do not take my story as typical. That said...

After transferring the data from my #1 iMac to my #2 iMac, I lost the pictures of my 4-month old's first Thanksgiving. I was pretty upset about this, and talked with tech help for some time trying to recover them. In the end they were lost, but because of this and the fact that #2 was also DOA with dead pixels, Apple offered me the same 1TB time capsule as the poster above. Since I already have a 1TB HD and a router, I said this wouldn't help me. I asked if they would instead upgrade me from i5 to i7, but they said they couldn't offer this over the phone as I had purchased in-store (had I ordered online they could have done it for me). In the end I told them that my 30GB Video iPod (5G) was dying and I could use a replacement. They offered me an 8GB iPod Touch, but I said I really needed something bigger than that. They agreed to send me a 32GB iPod Touch as it's the same price as the Time Capsule they offered earlier.

Got the iPod Touch this week and have had a lot of fun with it. Although now I need to buy Apple Care for it...so in some ways I'm shelling out even more dough.

Sucks that I lost the photos, but I had emailed a couple out in lower-res so all is not lost. I'm happy with the solution Apple offered, and have been enjoying my i5 and new iPod since.

sounds like a good deal if you ask me

i ordered my 27" i7 not 2 long ago so was just wondering what kind of stuff people have been experience (in case my i7 is not working up 2 par) with my luck i know it wont.

when macbook pro unibody came out .. i got the top of the line 15" ... it was like 3K or something and i had to have it replaced twice cuz when ever i would close the screen it would rub off on the keyboard so all the oil residues that were left from my fingers on the keyboard would be imprinted on the screen ... and this happened with two units they shipped me so the guy offered me free apple care and the 3rd unit has been nothing but perfect so far.

i figure if my luck fallows me and my iMac has issues free apple care would be a good start :)

No, I have had mine for over a month now and I have nothing but nice things to say about it.

I want a free gift though.

I had a 24 inch 3.06 C2D iMac which had some issues. I took it and had the hard drive replaced (so they claimed) and signed a confirmation of pickup form at the store. In fact what they had actually done is give me a refurbished model with someone's registration info and extra warranty paid for (which I did not pay for when I purchased my original machine). I did not know this of course until I had another issue with my iMac. It turns out that the logic board had failed this time and would take one and a half to two weeks to replace and took palce smack in the middle of finals when I would be relying on it to study. In order to start the process they requested I give them the serial number (when making the appointment for repair) which I did. I then discovered the serial number differed from the one I had purchased.

For the second time I had to lug this heavy machine through the busiest mall in town in order to get it repaired. Upon my arrival, I spoke to the genius bar and politely explained my frustration with this whole process. What should have been a simple hard drive replacement had now become a warranty issue due to differing serials, a week + of repair time, and of course no computer to use during finals. I asked them if they could either provide me with a replacement or speed up the logic board replacement. The fellow went to the back and assured me that it would be no problem to provide a replacement. It turns out they would be giving me a 27" i5 imac to replace my mid 2008 3.06 C2D. Needless to say I was happy with the service and could rest assured that Apple takes care of their clients appropriately.
