27" iMac, Apple charged my card and has not yet shipped it.

This was the weirdest thing, I have purchased numerous computers from Apple before and I never encountered this problem.

Anyways I placed an order for a 27" iMac i7 about a week ago. Apple like always charges me $1.00 as an authorization. Today in the morning I wake up with a message stating that they attempted to charge my card and it was declined. I was ecstatic because I thought to myself "I guess they are about to ship my computer". I immediately called my credit card company and they removed the block. I went online and revised the order.
Apple charged me $2,400 (I'm rounding it) and it still shows not yet shipped. I thought they were supposed to charge you once the item was in the warehouse ready to ship, am I wrong?

Same for me--ordered on the 12th, charged yesterday...still no movement. Mind you, I don't see it as weird. But then I've never ordered a computer from Apple before (always inherited) so I've nothing to compare it to.

My CC was charged on a Friday, and my iMac shipped that Monday. I say it should ship between Monday-Wednesday( being a bit conservative and have to factor in Christmas).

It has been several weeks, but there was about a 48 delay of actual shipment after my CC charge.

Was your iMac shipped from China? What was the transit time? If it shipped from within the US, what city did it ship from?

Apple hasn't charged my card yet.. I had a ridiculous time getting my credit card to approve it and then had to REORDER, putting me behind by about 5 days. I could have gotten shipping within 7 days. Then I got stuck with the weekends and it took a little over 3 weeks. It was apples fault. They were supposed to email me my order and then I would notify them when the block was off. I never got it and had to place the order again. Anyways.. they still havent charged me. My credit card put ANOTHER hold on it. Not sure why. I've been using the computer for about 10 days now though. I'll see if they decide to pursue it.

Yep, shipped from China. It shipped on a Monday, but didn't leave Shanghai until Tuesday. Got here Wednesday. So 2 day shipping, but I like to think of it overnight due to it not leaving until Tuesday.

Mine was charged when the order was processed, and at that time I received an e-mail indicating what had happened. However, it took 24 to 48 hours for the process to take place.

Now, there have been shipping delays at the US airports because of weather problems (snow and ice). My iMac replacement was supposed to arrive at my home yesterday. I called FedEx to ask what had happened, and was told of the delays. It arrived today, and the screen does not show a yellow tinge nor any other problem (week 51 iMac).

It SHIPPED! It was shipped from China and it is expected to arrive on the 29th... I guess all the iMacs are being shipped directly from Apple's factory in China. The only thing I don't understand is why they have two shipping methods (Ground and Expedited) if all packages are shipped the same way and speed. Is it a way for Apple to make an extra $30?
