This is what's happening to my iMac.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f4TEn8zfas

I have no clue why. This occured AFTER installing the new updates Apple had including the Safari and iTunes updates.
I don't understand why...
I've booted into Windows 7 via BootCamp no problem, and when I go on Mac OS X, it just doesn't work.

Any suggestions/help?

Thanks guys

P.S. I've already made an appointment with the genius bar just in case.

Genius bar for you mate - that's hardware :(

It's definitely not a hardware issues as he clearly stated the problem is non-existant while in the Windows environment.

Try booting from your OS disc and repairing permissions, defragging your hard drive, etc.

Ugh.
I've tried doing that, but it keeps getting stuck at the Apple logo and white background.
Nothing happening from there..

Are you holding Option upon bootup and selecting the DVD as the boot device.

Also, how long did you wait? It can sometimes take up to 10 minutes to launch.

Yeah that's what I did.
Um well I guess I'll try waiting longer. Thanks.
Is there supposed to be a loading wheel under the Apple logo? Because all I see is the plain Grey Apple Logo. Nothing else. Literally.

It sometimes will intermittently show the spinning pinwheel.

If not, let it load (also listen and see if you can hear the DVD "whurr" (spin) while it's loading).

Yeah it hasn't done anything. :(
I guess Genius bar..any other suggestions?

They will probably look at you funny when you tell them it's fully functional under Windows. It's extremely odd that it won't boot from the disc.

That's probably going to be your only option though, sorry.

Haha true.

Thank you so much for the effort.
I appreciate it.

i could be wrong there , but i had a similar problem yesterday after installing linux via bootcamp , i had similar display under linux ,but then it suddenly did not want me to boot into osx any longer , tried evereything all possible and impossible keyboard shortcuts to no avail , white screen that is , until i took away the aluminium usb keyboard and replaced it with a old pro keyboard after changing the keyboards i got at least a question mark folder and was able to restore from time machine , after that everything fine again, for some strange reason one of the recent updates or driver changes for bootcamp there must be one that disables the aluminium keyboard at startup or something like that , hard to explain because after the time machine restore it works again fine

Heres an update guys.

I went to the Apple Store, the genius ran some tests on it and told me there weren't any unusual problems. He then told me he can erase and install, but another option he told me was to back up my files (because I hadn't) and bring it back to do it.
So I've backed up all my files, and tried to erase and install the drive myself because I wanted to experiment with it.

I've used Target Disk Mode to attempt to reinstall Snow Leopard on my iMac.
For some reason, in the middle of the install of the OS..it restarted the computer.
Now I'm in the blank screen with the grey Apple logo.
Completely stuck from there. It's been like this for quite a while now.
I've tried to reinstall the OS a few times already and keeps doing this.
Is there any other things I can try?

Btw. What option am I supposed to do to erase and install from Disk Utility? (Just to make sure)

Thanks
