I just received the 27" iMac I ordered today. I noticed that in under my account on the Apple site and on iCloud, it was listed as 21.5". I then noticed that in System Report that the model identifier was incorrect. It should be 19,2 and it is listed as 19,1. I read on the internet that 19,1 is the 21.5". I called Apple Support but they didn't know how the identifier could be changed. Otherwise, it seems to be working fine. Should I return and exchange it?

If you mean 19,1 (not 9,1), according to EveryMac that's the correct model id for the 27" Early 2019.

Yes, sorry, I meant 19,1 and 19,2. Here is the link below that I was looking at which shows that 19,2 is the correct model id for the 27". https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201634 I'm waiting to hear back from Apple. I don't know if the model id would make any difference in future updates or when I eventually sell the iMac. It seems to be working great and I hate to go to all the bother of packing it up and mailing it back, etc.

Seems strange that Apple's website would get this wrong, but I'm more inclined to believe EveryMac which indicates that 19,1 is the correct identifier for the 27". Perhaps someone else with a 27" Early 2019 can confirm.
[doublepost=1553913414][/doublepost]Geekbench also seems to support 19,1 as correct for the 27". It's definitely more likely that a mistake was made on Apple's website. https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/12573454

Perhaps explains why I received an e-mail from apple that someone had used my apple I.D on a 21.5" Imac when I set up my new 27". Caused me to change my password.

I hope that's the case. Someone else on the Apple Community forum has the same issue.

I saw this by OWC that confirmed that Apple mixed up the id numbers: https://blog.macsales.com/47740-app...macs-results-in-model-id-mixup/comment-page-1.

I noticed this earlier when I was searching the Geekbench 4 Compute database for “iMac19”: all the 27-inch iMac results are identified as “iMac19,1” while all the 21.5-inch iMac results are identified as “iMac19,2”.

It’s enough to make an old QA director shake his head in sorrow.
