27" iMac Headphone jack problems.

I got a new 27" iMac recently (less than a month ago) and I've been having some trouble with the headphone port.

When I plug headphones in, it either doesn't detect anything or briefly changes the Output to "Digital Out', then switches straight back to Internal speakers. Can anyone shed any light on this short of me having to go through the hassle of sending it to apple?
