Out of the box my new i5 has cracked screen. Not the lower left hand corner as reported on the i7s, but an 18" curved crack from center bottom to lower right. This is a custom unit with 2TB HD and 8GB RAM.

Looks like another 2-3 weeks to have Apple solve the problem.
 
Get use to it. People buying plasma TV have been having the same problem for years. The bigger the screen the greater chance of getting a broken glass from handling.

The numbers are very small, unless you happens to be one of the statistic.

I think this is spot-on. Larger screen made of glass probably receives more torque during shipping. I'm not surprised at all that there has been a few cracked screens.

OP, sorry to hear about your bad luck! I too would be bummed...
