When I rent a movie in Standard Def, I only do this if I really wanna see it and HD isn't available, I go to play the video in full screen, but it only takes up the middle of the screen. With black bars on the sides and the top and bottom. How in the hell do I fix this?

I'm presuming your in iTunes. When you're in full-screen try pressing Apple-3 as it should make the video "fit-to-screen".

(Some other options)
Apple-1: Original Size
Apple-2: Double Size
Apple-3: Fit-to-screen

That should work (these shortcuts also work in Quicktime if I remember correctly).
