27" imac temp issue after SSD install ...

Last week I performed an SSD installation in my 2009 corei7 27" imac.
I took out the superdrive and installed the SSD in its place.

For the past few days, I have noticed that the imac is getting very hot. The fan on the top right is constantly blowing hot air out, from the moment the machine reaches a certain temperature ( which I'M not sure of the temp value).
Also the sides and top on the machine are extremely hot to the touch.

I am trying to not open the imac until I know what is causing this temperature problem.

p.s I never had the fans spin or work overtime as much as they do now. Not until I did that SSD install.

logically wouldn't it be because the optical drive is not meant to ever get as a SSD can? and with the fan management still thinking it has an optical drive in stead of a SSD its going nuts trying to prevent it from overheating?

I never had any heat issues when using SSD's. I am running one in the standard SSD location and one in place of the optical drive. Maybe there is an issue with your SSD? Or, another issue with your system?

Did you apply the original thermal sensor to the top of the SSD?

Also, with the location that Apple installs their SSD's there is much, much less airflow in that area compared to the optical drive location.

There has to be a reason for the heat being generated, and it is probably not the SSD. (could be though).

You are going to need to pull it apart, and I would start with putting the optical drive back in, and the SSD up by the HD. Then see if the same heat issue occurs in the same location (fan).

Yes I did. I will give fancontrol a try to see if it helps.

My SSD is the G.SKILL Phoenix Pro Series FM-25S2S-120GBP2 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC

It should be one of the best.

I would not use the fan control, as it seems you might have a heat issue. Your temps are all higher than mine, including ambient, but your "secondary heatsink" seems really high in comparison.

I have maybe a 6% difference between my primary and secondary heat sinks. Yours is more like 20% higher. Not sure which one the Secondary heat sink is.

It definitely is not your SSD, that thing is running at 32 degrees compared to your HD at 129.

Are these idle temps you listed, or is this during, or after a load was placed on the system?
