I have new 27" iMac that won't play video from Marketwatch.com or WSJ.com but plays fine from other sites such as CNN. I reinstalled OS but no help.

Update Flash, try another browser, clear cookies....

This problem has nothing to do with it being an iMac and everything to do with your installed plugins, video players and extensions... download VLC and Flip4mac, which should prevent any future issues.

From the looks of those sites you need to update flash, all videos work perfect for me in safari, chrome and firefox.

27" iMac won't play Marketwatch.com videos

I took the advice and updated Flash, cleared cookies, downloaded VLM and Flip4Mac, and also tried Firefox but still have same problem. As mentioned earlier I even reinstalled the OS.

Videos from Marketwatch.com and sister site WSJ.com do not play on the iMac, however they do play on my PC.

Also, I went to the local Apple store today to see if videos from these sites would run on the store 27" iMac and they did not. Two Apple associates could not explain.

Any ideas.

Would anyone be kind enough to go to Marketwatch.com and check to see if you can play their videos on your 27" iMac.

Thank you for testing those sites. Must be something unique to my i7 and the one at the store. Now I'm stumped.

grr video compatibility does not have anything to do with the processor or the fact its an imac :(

vids work fine on my 27" imac and my mbp. Also just tested on a spare macbook with a fresh install of osx and no issues... have you run software update?

Videos on all other sites work fine... just not on Marketwatch.com or WSJ.com. The software is updated.
