After doing a couple hours of research, I realized that the c2d processor isn't exactly sought after and is less preferable than the i5 and i7 processors. Nonetheless we got a good deal on this and it was in pristine condition.
It's upgraded to 8gb of ram right now, but would like to just max it out as I'll be doing some slight photo editing and want to make it as good as I can have it so that we don't need a new computer for a few years.
From what I've read, I can only upgrade to 16gb because of the c2d. But I haven't found anything that tells me it's got to be DDR3 PC3-8500 1066MHz. I've read people getting away with 1333MHz on the i5, i7 machines but no reference as to whether higher ram will work with the c2d machines. The only reason why I would consider it is I've found a couple options that are cheaper than the 1066MHz counterparts.
Anyone out there still running these relics and can confirm or deny that it will a) run with 1333Mhz ram and downclock or b) run true 1333MHz if all ram modules are 1333MHz?
[doublepost=1451997884,1451927535][/doublepost]I guess my main question is will 1333MHz work in a c2d iMac? I don't care if it downclocks to 1067MHz, just wondering if it'll work. I know it will with an i5, i7 chipset, but not sure with mine.
