27" with some issues. Exchange it?

Hi, last month I purchased a 27" iMac with 8GB of RAM and 2TB HDD + 256GB SSD. It had an annoying yellow tinge and a dead pixel so I asked apple to exchange it.

Today I received the replacement. At first it seemed fine, but I soon realized it has a dead pixel and it may have some other display issues (some backlight bleeding and maybe yellow tinge?). I would like you to tell me what you think and if you would replace it. The computer has costed me a lot of money and I would like to have a decent unit. What would you do?

If it bothers you and you think the effort of trying to exchange it is worth your time, try getting an exchange. I don't really understand why people ask this question.

I agree, when I buy a lemon I return it if I can. Especially with computer equipment. Even if it is a video card or ram, or even a fan.

I ask it because I believe there are people here that know about some statistics about faulty iMacs. Personally, I have no idea. I was hoping that someone could tell me if there is a high probability that a replacement could be worse. Also, I would like to know to what extent my iMac is faulty. Like, for instance, if it suffers from yellow tinge and if is ok to have one stuck pixel.

I don't think anyone knows any statistics on faulty iMacs. I know there are lots of posts here about faulty iMacs, but that's to be expected.

I don't think the probability is "high" (whatever that means), but that doesn't mean it won't or can't happen.

A screen should not have a yellow tinge or a stuck pixel out of the box. If it were my computer, I would exchange it. If the issues don't bother you, you might decide not to.

I wouldn't accept a dead pixel on a $2k+ computer. Actually, for about the last 2 years most major display manufacturers are on board with a ZERO dead pixel policy, even on a cheapie $200 display. (LG is one of them--and they make the Apple displays).

The backlight is a bit rough from your picture#6, but there's not much yellow tinge that I can see: you wanna see some major yellow tinge, get yourself a 21.5" sunshine model.

Still, return it for the pixel defect, your chances (I think) are pretty good at getting a better one next time.

i agree, return it if the dead pixels bother you. It does not look too bad, and you have a good chance of getting a better iMac. One with no dead pixels and no worse yellowing.

How can you tell for dead pixels?

I bought my 27 earlier this month, since then I replaced 2 units.
Because the first one had hard drive problems.
Second one because of light leakage problem from corners (I changed my computer and it was much better than your screen from what I see in picture 6).
The third one is fine, there is a problem of light leakage from the corners but I realized it is the same in all iMacs and that's because Apple is using cheap screens =/.

After seeing the picture number 6 I recommend you replace a computer but don't expect to get much better screen.

Sorry this is happening to you, I also felt disappointed as you are.

Hello, in all honesty I'd return it and ask for a another replacement because like you said their notcheap to buy. There should be a imac that doesn't have the yellow tint and missing pixcles.

My Photoshop doesn't see ANY yellow tinge. The only coloration is ~1% red in the right bottom corner area. There is also darker band in the dock area and darker corners (and light bleeding as you can see). If I wanted to replace it, I'd rather return one for cash and buy another one.
