I just bought the 27in iMac to hook up to my Mac Pro till apple refreshes their ACD. I thought I would be able to use the Mini Displayport to DVI adaptor to connect it to my Mac Pro through DVI and it doesn't work. I know you can do it with mini displayport to mini displayport although, both my mini displayports are currently in use by by 24 ACD.

That adaptor is for sending a displayport signal to dvi, not a dvi to displayport. It seems like there is no adaptor to do what you wish to do. You would need to upgrade your video card to a card with displayport.

I already have 2 cards with mini displayport, but are taken up by my 2 24in ACD. I'm going to go to the apple store and pickup another GT 120.

I currenlty have the 4870 and GT 120 in my Mac Pro, do you thinking adding an additonal GT 120 will produce a lot more heat? My Mac Pro and the 27 iMac already bake me in my room.
