Just had a 'phone call from Apple in Ireland. There's now a fix for the yellowing screen issue - a replacement screen. I was offered either a collection from home or taking it to my local Apple store/ dealer. Max time - about 7days.

Hmm...interesting. Let us know how it goes when you get the replacement back. Post pics if possible.

If they are indeed replacing the screens, then future iMac releases should come with the better screen!

Would be helpful if you could also let us know the manufacturer of the new screen...in case Apple decides to ditch LG hehehe.... :)

I have given up after my sixth 6th i5 replacement purchased in store. I'm now iMacless and excited to know about this. :)

I just received my phone call as well. I just need to call the Apple Store and schedule my repair appointment. It better not take 7-days though. I'm tired of being without this thing .

That's good news (I guess). I made them open up my replacement in store before I took it away, however, those florescent lights in store made the screen look perfect, it wasn't until I got home it looked worse, so will be calling in soon for a fix - I think I will wait until the initial wave passes :)

Replacement screen

I got the 'phone call as I had previously 'phoned AppleCare and complained about the screen (actually it's not THAT bad - slight yellowing in the bottom RH side only), and that TechToolPro had diagnosed a SMART fault with the HD, even though TechTool Deluxe and, later, on the advice of Applecare, the Apple Hardware test, found no fault with the SMART status.

Has anyone else found the same problem?

The Irish guy (after commiserating about the Rugby performance over the w/end) stated that 1) the 7 days was an absolute max - it should be shorter than this, and, 2) that Apple's preferred option was for me and others to take it to their local Apple store rather than parcel it back to them. The reason given was that this meant I could fire up the machine in-store and check that all was well. (To a pessimist this would sound as if Apple weren't completely certain that this fix was going to work... but I'm going to trust them...)

i received a similar Call 20 minutes ago (i live in Denmark). I was not offered a pickup but was asked to go to local servicepartner and have my display replaced. I will go there on wednesday and let you know how it goes:)

All the Best
