2G 1st Generation iPhone mms?

I've been wondering since there is that hack, that enables it, could it work. I've tried updating to ATT 5.5, it did update (running firmware 3.0.1, because the other is yet to become windows friendly for jailbroken iphones). Thats pretty much my question. How to get it functioning, also have another problem. Since i've updated to 5.5 (reverted to 4.0 actually) my battery has been !!!DYING!!! badly. I noticed when I am next to a speaker, it is communicating with the network non-stop. It just keeps going and going, with iphone its expected to do alot, but it NEVER stops, which I know is the reason it is running down the battery, question is, why is it communicating.

But yes, please help with the MMS. it works in this area, and with 3.0.1 on 3GS (My friend has one, and jailbroken, works fine)

Including some details about phone and plan.

*iPhone 2G
*AT&T - using a family data plan, and family textin
*Unlocked, (of course)
*Jailbroken.
*Installed ActivateMMS2G Via Cydia.

Possibly could my problem be with having the family messaging plan? Because I can't aford an iPhone plan, and AT&T Reps have been saying you dont even have to have an iphone plan on the 2g anymore, don't beivle it but would love some help, thanks :]

i had the exact same issue and it all started after i installed Activatemms2g from then on i had dramatically reduced battery life and as you mentioned the continual communicating with network (identified via interference from nearby speakers) However when i tried to uninstall activatemms2g my iphone went completely tits up & was totally unresponsive to anything (beware)
the only option was a full dfu restore then redsnow to rejailbreak/unlock. this may not be the case for you but i do know others have experienced the same problems with activatemms2g. Hope you get it sorted

U Need a Mac and some one with the 5.5 .ippc file

Dude after enabling MMS on my 3.0.1(so i could keep tethering) its pretty simple i only know the mac way but all you need is someone wit the new 5.5 ippc file i would get it from a friend not online but any who the all you need to do is Option+check for update and select were ever you put the .ippc file

Pretty lame that Apple (or AT&T, who knows really) isn't giving the 2g MMS because of "hardware restrictions."

I tried everything on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU3UFtmJuVY on a jailbroken 2g phone with the 3.0 firmware and it did not work. Try it anyway. Some folks have been able to make it work on their phone.

I don't believe Apple is telling the truth about the phone not being able to support MMS. They just needed a reason for force people to upgrade to the 3G. Same reason they added video to the 3GS so 3G would have a reason to upgrade.
