I recently bought an old 2g off of craigslist. It's been unlocked and jailbroken. That was when things really went wrong.

Problem 1

I powered the phone off when I got home and it wouldn't start back up. I tried plugging it in to various wall outlets and in my computer and it worked after a few different attempts.

I tried powering down again later and it took another number of socket attempts before it turned on. The next time it worked by plugging the phone into my computer. So, there is no rhyme or reason to it, it just turns on when it feels like it apparently.

Problem 2

The phone usage time increases even though my phone is on auto-lock for 1 minute. Today, for instance I used the phone for 10 minutes and it says that the usage time is 1 hr. 47 min.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!! I called a local iphone repair place and they told me it's probably a battery problem and it just needs to be replaced. agree/disagree?

i forgot to mention...it was an unlocked jailbroken phone. does that mean i can still restore the phone without jacking it up?

Well I tried starting over and unlocking and jailbreaking. It started not holding a charge that morning. It had to be plugged in to stay on, or I had to not let the lock go on by continually pressing the button on the front. If it stayed locked for longer than 30 sec. it would shut down completely. Is it a battery problem or something else?
