Hello all! Question for you out there good with older hardware.

I picked up a 10gig 2G iPod a few days back. It works fine on its own, playing the few lousy songs the person I got it from left on it. However, it does not seem to wish to sync. The issue seems that it seems to be going into an incomplete Disk Mode. When plugged in (FireWire of course), it does its normal reboot, then instead of going to the "Do not disconnect" screen, it goes straight to the "OK to disconnect" screen with the big checkmark on it. It will not show up in iTunes or in the Finder. I know that the disk is not dead, as it plays music off it fine. All I want to do is to get it to show up so that I can wipe it clean and start anew on it. Unfortunately, it refuses to cooperate.

Any ideas why it would do this and how to make it stop?
