2g phone restored, no idea how to jailbreak/unlock/what firmware?!

I have been searching around to try and restore my 2g phone. It's sitting here connected to my computer and I am trying to get it jailbroken and unlocked. Only problem is I have no idea what firmware to use. To be honest, I'm not sure what it all means 1.0.2, 3.0.1.... HELP!

Since you are struggling with understanding this, perhaps you should not be attempting this. By the way, the 2G is the simplest of all phones to JB and UL.

Honestly, it wasn't me that caught it. But I did e-mail a couple of angles/arguements to MN to get Facebook to pull it down, which they finally did.

Now there is a fake GeoHot page up on Facebook.
