Holy crap, that's cheap. I'm thinking about buying a Macbook today. Is the RAM worth it?

Yeah, upping the RAM in the Intel machines will make a difference, especially on the Macbook or the Mini which share RAM with the graphics card.

Hahaha...I know that upping the RAM is worth it. I meant to ask, is THIS RAM worth it? :) Sorry for the confusion. :)

Well, the reviews on Newegg seem to say it works ok in Macs. I'd be careful with RAM that's not certified to work in Macs, though, because if it doesn't work in your Macbook, you'll probably have to pay a restocking fee to return it. Of course, lots of people get RAM and have no problems with it, I even got some generic stuff from newegg for my Mini, and it works fine. But you never know. Places like datamem.com and crucial.com guarantee that their RAM works with Macs.

Edit: Though I should add that I'm considering getting this, if I can convince my friend to go 50/50 on it.

Being that I wasn't going to immediately upgrade the RAM, because the Macbook itself is maxing out my budget, I think that it might be worth the "risk" that it doesn't work.

Just thought i would update (incase people are searching for patriot ram)..

Received the new ram tuesday and install it last night. it works fine and the laptop now recognizes 2gb.

however, i had to push in the ram in harder than i thought i would have to. from everything i read it seemed like the ram slid in with no real 'click'. for me however i had to push in until i felt the ram sit in the slot (kinda felt it 'click' in).

no idea if it was because of the patriot ram or what. but like i said, ram is recognized and computer seems much quicker!

Schweet, I just plugged that exact same RAM into my macbook (white 2ghz) tonight. Bought it off newegg, came in 2 days, now I have 2GB ram and it runs beautifully. Passed apple hardware test (extended).

Macs really do need at minimum 1GB ram, mac os x and associated apps are a little memory hungry.
