Macbook Air Spill damage protection, 2nd attempt at question.
I've asked this before but got no real responses in terms of answering my question, so again I was wondering where I could buy a macbook air with a plan or extra coverage that helps protect against spill damage.

I believe if you buy from BestBuy and get their protection plan, it covers any and all accidental damages. Bought a net book from there a few years ago and dropped it. I had their accidental protection plan and took it in, they couldn't replace it cause the stopped making my specific type of net book and instead gave me in-store credit and pro-rated the protection plan for me. So I ended up buying a new laptop with the in-store credit.

Don't forget to check out Squaretrade. They have a warranty that you can buy for anything and everything, but I think the warranty only covers up to the price of the warranty itself. What I mean is, say your warranty costs $300 from Squaretrade, and lets also say you seriously have messed up your MBA and it now has water damage and a cracked screen. You would then send your MBA to Squaretrade and they'd evaluate the total cost to fix the damage. Say the cost to fix the water damage was $300, and to fix the screen it'd be another $300. With Squaretrade, you'd only be able to get one or the other fixed because since your warranty costed you $300, you only get accidental damage up to $300. Anything more, and your warranty does not cover it.

So, you can buy from Squaretrade, just be aware of what I told you.

Insure your laptop on your household insurance for accidental damage.

Sorted.

Will cover you for rabid animal attack through to eating your laptop when drunk.

That's not a warranty ... that is just "prepaid maintenance", that you lose if you don't need it!

Surely there is more to it than that?;)

If that is truly how it works, there is absolutely no point in buying the policy.

This information is inaccurate based on SquareTrade's website: http://www.squaretrade.com/pages/learn-more-warranty-buyer (see "Coverage Amount" half way down the page): You are covered for cumulative warranty costs up to the original cost you paid for the product, not what you paid for the warranty.

Eg. If you paid $2000 for a laptop and purchased a SquareTrade warranty on it, you are covered for up to a cumulative $2000 worth or warranty work from SquareTrade while within the warranty period. Once you hit that value or exit the warranty time period, you no longer have warranty coverage.

Accidental coverage from SquareTrade is a separate warranty option offered only on new items.

Ditto on Poisoned1's suggestion: BestBuy offers an extended warranty that covers accidental damage including liquid spills.
