For movies with a director's commentary, here's what I did before, and it worked just fine:
1. ripped a DVD using Handbrake, selecting the two audio tracks
2. Opened it in QuickTime Pro, pulled up properties (command-J), checked the second audio track, renamed it "French" (to distinguish it from the main soundtrack).
3. Saved it as a .mov file and imported it into iTunes
4. Streamed it to the ATV.
5. Press/hold the play button on the ATV remote to bring up the chapter list. Behold! There's an "Audio" selection at the top of the screen, allowing me to choose which soundtrack I want: main movie dialog, or the director's commentary.
Well, as of last week, I'm screwed. On my new rips, ATV simply WILL NOT give me the 'audio' button that I used to choose the soundtrack I wanted. And WORSE, for a video with two soundtracks, all it will play is the COMMENTARY track. My old rips are fine-the audio option is still there. But any new rips will play only the commentary, and not provide the 'audio' button to control it.
Somebody in the Apple Forum suggested renaming the .mov file (with the modified soundtrack info as described above) back to .m4v. That made no difference. I also reset my ATV back to out-of-the-box status. The menus look like the old ones, so I know the reset worked, but this too made no difference.
Please, please - all I want to do is what I was able to do before!
