2nd DVD-RW question and upgrading the graphics card.

Hi all,

Really enjoying my new MP.
I bought the base model and am thinking of putting a second DVD-RW drive in.

The stock one seems to be an LG GH61N.
Can I put pretty much any SATA DVD-RW drive in or are there specific brands/types.

Also, I have the ATI Radeon 5770 which is a bit anaemic.
What options do I have other than the 5870, if any?

For official graphics solutions, ATI 5870 is it. Well, if you can take advantage of CUDA, there's the Quadro FX 4800.

You can also flash certain PC cards, but I don't know much about that.

As for the second drive, yes, any SATA DVD drive should do. There are some reports about things like repeating spinning up of the disks bringing the mac out of sleep mode. Personally, I'd stick with a drive sold by an Apple-centric vendor.

I can't just go purchase ANY 5870 can I?

You can either purchase the stock Apple 5870 or hunt around these forums on flashing a PC 5870.
