Any chance 2nd gen. AirPods are released before Christmas or eventually in early 2019 like January or February?

Apple included the current model of AirPods in its gift guide so the most logical is not to expect it this year. But rumors are still around.

I understand secrecy is part of any business success but given Apple announced wirelessly charging AirPods alongside AirPower about 14 months ago I think it should be pressured to shed some light on what’s happened and whether they plan on launching those products or not. Perhaps MacRumors should try to get answers from Apple on this matter?

There will not be any AirPods for the remainder of 2018, especially given that Apple is going to sell as many current of the first GEN AirPods as they can to possibly liquidate stock. If you think about it, it’s only less than seven weeks until the end of the year, it makes no sense to release version two of the AirPods at this point, so you could expect them sometime in 2019.

A few points here:

1.) Apple does _not_ owe an explanation to anyone about anything about their future products, and they certainly are not going to divulge anything to Macrumors about version two of the AirPods or other accessories. The only time Apple seems to respond anything from the media, is usually if there’s some type of software/hardware concern that needs to be addressed either immediately or the upcoming future on how they will address it.

[Although, Cook has briefly hinted to customer emails in response about future products (First Gen AirPods, Max Mini) Mainly hinting that they would be coming, but no specifics other than that.]

2.) The AirPower as we know it, is nonexistent and has been removed from Apple‘s website. As far as you are concerned, it may never be part of their future lineup again, likely due to technical issues with the coils that were debated to be overheating inside the unit itself, which either Apple might re-design and/or completely scrap the product altogether.

Yes I agree except that these products were actually announced but vanished. I think customers should be deserving of an explanation. IT would be a nice gesture.
