Has anyone else had problems with their Airpods only playing audio out of one earbud? I feel like at least a few times a week this happens to me.

Is it possible I'm doing something wrong, like not putting one Airpod in my ear fast enough? Both AirPods have battery life when this occurs, so that isn't it.

I've used AirPods Pros and other pairs of AirPods and for whatever reason, this only occurs with this one specific pair.

I've reset them before and I still get this problem... Not sure what else can be done to remedy this problem.

Are they still under warranty? Mine have the same exact issue, so I called Apple this week; they sent a box overnight, I sent the Airpods back, and they should either repair or replace them within 10 business days.

Quality control for Airpods is nonexistent.

They should be. This was a last resort but I'll contact them since I still can't figure out what triggers this. Thanks!

I got my AirPods fixed for this issue (they gave me one new AirPod) and the problem returned again smh. I'm still under limited warranty so I can get them fixed again but talk about an annoying problem for a product I use so frequently.

I’ve had this problem on two sets of AirPods. The first pair I kept going up to the Apple Store and getting them replaced until I finally just gave up and got a second pair. Same thing eventually happened to the second pair. I tried cleaning the case with a q tip and gently moving the charging points in the case with a pair of tweezers. I use them for running and figured that sweat was getting in there and messing something up. Nothing ever helped. So I bought a third. So far no problems with those.

I still use the second pair for occasionally listening to Apple TV in bed or if I’m going somewhere I don’t want to lose one.

I saw an add for an AirPod cleaning kit on Amazon for like $6 and figured it was worth a shot. I don’t want to link to any specific one here so it doesn’t look like I’m trolling for business or anything (I have no relationship with any company that makes these, but just a happy user.) it they are all very similar and they have a kind of thick brush that you stick down into the AirPod charging case. I wasn’t expecting anything but gave it a try. Lo and behold, my second pair now work like new and so far (it’s only been a week and a half) they both charge and work correctly.

Might be worth giving one of those kits a shot.

I’ve never had this much trouble with an Apple product. I literally sent them to Apple for repair for the second time. They said there was nothing wrong with them and it keeps happening.

I may have to give the cleaning kit a try.

Funny you updated your post from February, because my "fixed" AirPods are experiencing the same connectivity issues again. Warranty expires next month, so I called Apple and they once again sent a box to send them back.

Last time they replaced both AirPods and not the case, this time I specifically requested a full replacement of all components. We'll see if they come through in that regard. I would also hope that repair/replacement includes a one year warranty, since this is a recurring issue. Two warranty repairs/replacements for a product that's been used with care for less than a year. They're probably designed to fail after the warranty, and ours' accidentally failed early! 😂

I had issues with my first gen AirPods, they were out of warranty so I replaced them with the newer model, and now more issues. When it comes time for a replacement (which may be sooner than later) I'll be looking outside the AirPods and Beats brands.

FWIW, I found my old first par of AirPods & the cleaning kit did not help those, so I'm batting .500. Still worth it for me (as the 2nd pair is still running great) but figured I'd post the update now that I've tried it on a second paid.

Also, completely agree on not having this much trouble with any other Apple product.

My cleaning kit is literally one stop away according to Amazon haha. I'm not expecting it to work but it's worth a shot.

My first pair of 2nd Gen Airpods (with the wireless charging case) was great and I never had any problems. I ran them through the washer, and while they still work, the sound is wonky. The replacement pair I bought has been giving me all kinds of problems.

Received a repair update an hour after confirmation they were received by the service center.

Could not duplicate the issue, so they are sending the same AirPods back.

Warranty expires next month.

I am VERY dissatisfied.

How would you handle this?

Do I take them to the Apple store and create a scene? (Kidding of course, but I'm really frustrated!)

My AirPods are used by me alone, I have clean ears and clean the AirPods and case, the case has never been thrown or even dropped that I can remember. I don't use them to workout or in the rain, there is NO physical damage whatsoever, even the year-old case looks new except for the usual surface scratches!

It seems like Apple phone support is disinterested in solving the problem, since they have had 2 opportunities so far. Do I contact the attorney general or something? This is crazy! All for a cheap pair of AirPods that probably costs Apple $5 to produce.

Not sure how I didn't see this update, but same thing happened to me, see above!

I really don't know what to do. One thing's for sure, I'm NEVER buying another AirPods product EVER again! What a nightmare.

I've had the issue the past year and half with my AP2, the right doesn't charge and since they are always on it's dead on removal from case. An Apple technician in Thailand told me to order the cleaning kit as that is what he uses when people bring them in. It seems like hit or miss but the kit does seem to do the job for me. Also I saw a post where the user put a layer of tape in the top of the case to force the pod down firmer on the charging pins. This might actually work as I find that when I press down the charging icon on the phone will come on. Heck this is my second case, and both AirPods had been replaced by Apple Thailand while troubleshooting the issue. Of course the warranty is long past now.

However I am fed up with them as they are unreliable. So I bought myself the Beats Fit Pro, no stupid stem and charging issues. Also the fit is great.
