Hi , I have a question regarding to my 2nd hand 2G iphone. My old 2G iphone was not functioning last week. And I bought an used 2G iphone from ebay, when I insert my own sim card the iphone need activation. Is there anyway I can unlock or jailbreak the iphone without activation procedure from itune? The iphone firmware is 3.1.2. Thanks.

Apple wont activate the phone unless it has a legitimate SIM eg AT&T in the US or O2 in the UK, i'm assuming you dont have one of these?
if you dont you can jailbreak the phone (as you do not need iTunes for this) and if need be unlock it with bootneuter if you have a 2G phone. Any sim will now work in the phone
Hope this helps

Yes. This is probably what you need to do. I would search for a guide for jailbraking (and unlocking if you need it) for 3.1.2 ... this way the phone will be "hacktivated"
