2nd optical: master/slave or cable select?

i have a second optical drive that I might put in my mac pro. generally, have been people been setting up a master/slave relationship or setting both to cable select?

I put a drive in the second optical bay, and had to set it to slave... but i seem to remember that burners like to be master, no matter which connection they are on.

They should both be set to cable select.

You are going to hate that arrangement if you are going to be reading and writing to BOTH drives at the same time.

Take a look at this.

Might save you some disappointment by using the ONE IDE bus with two drives.
