Hello all. I recently ordered a new 15 inch MBP 2.16 C2D with a 160gb HD and Glossy screen. The machine will replace my Black Macbook. The extra speed, HD capacity, and video card were the main motives for the upgrade. I just read in another thread however that the Macbook Pros are not as durable as the Macbooks and now I am concerned that I may have made a mistake. I tend to be a perfectionist and I am concerned that the MBP may get beat up in normal use. Anyone have experience with this? Has anyone else upgraded from a Macbook to a MBP? Happy?

No, generally speaking it isn't going to be as durable, simply because even the hardened aluminum can be dented (whereas the polycarbonate of a MacBook can primarily just be scratched up a lot).
If you keep it protected in a sleeve though you will be in pretty good shape.
If you want the best of both worlds, you could look at the Speck SeeThru hardcase (available in clear or red), which basically adds a hard plastic shell to a MBP, and would give it pretty good protection from dents and scratches:

I had a powerbook before I got a MB (and now I'm back to a MBP).. anyways, I had the powerbook for 11 months, and carted it everywhere with me, to and from classes.. it was my first lappy and though I cared for it, I assumed it was robust, so I wasn't particularly careful.. I never had a sleeve for it other than the one built in to my backpack, and it was in with books all the time. Despite that and "how dent-prone the alum. cases are" the thing still looked perfect as the day I got her by the time I traded her away.. I wouldn't worry too much. If you're not throwing your laptops, the MBP will be just fine.
