I use my WIFI to access the internet via a separate router. I’m adding a 2nd NIC “usb-c wired” for work but I need to figure out how to make the laptop use the 2nd NIC to access our LAN only and NOT the work internet without the need to keep disable the WIFI?
- I'm not joined to a domain or anything.

Thanks

The order of your connections in the Network system preferences pane dictates priority. macOS will always try to route via from the top service first and on down the remaining connections. https://support.apple.com/guide/mac...network-connections-mchlp2711/10.14/mac/10.14

So put your WiFi at the top position and your USB NIC in the 2nd position. As long as there is a path to the internet on WiFi, a path to the LAN on the wired connection and the two networks don't have conflicting ip subnets, you should be good to go.

Got it..now I see there's a way to change the order of prefered interfaces. But is there is anyway I can allow certain application(s) to use the wired nic and NOT the wifi?

I use VMware Horizon daily but I want it to connect to the wired nic because it is much faster this way

Thank You!

That I am not as sure on. You would likely need to use the command line to setup a static route for the IP of the VM VDI server to be the router/gateway address on the wired interface.
