Hi,

I’m thinking if is It possible to get two 1070 Reference GPU (150 TDP) on a MAC PRO 5,1 with the use of internal psu only? And two 1080?

Do somebody try this?

The Mac Pro's internal PSU is a 980 watt unit so it easily has the capacity, its the stock wiring you are limited by.

The Pixlas mod, tapping new wires directly from the PSU is the best way and really not that difficult.

I have been running 2x 1080ti's for nearly a year using this method and its been rock solid.
 
Quite sure you can use only one mini 6pin to power the reference 1070's 8pin. It's a 8pin, but it won't draw anything near 150W. So, it should be OK to install dual reference 1070 even without Pixlas mod. But if you don't mind to do the mod, better to go with it.
