Hello,
I recently upgraded my old macbook's ram from 2gb (2x 1gb DDR3 1333) to 4gb (2x 2gb DDR3 1333). My question is I have an iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) that has 8gbs (2x 4gb DDR3 1333) leaving 2 ram slots open. It has a 3.4 ghz i7 with AMD AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB graphics. I was wondering if I could put the old ram from my old macbook inside the two empty slots in my iMac bumping it to 10gbs of ram. I realize that it wouldnt make a huge difference but why not. My question is will it be ok if I have that combination? In the end it would be 2x 4gb DDR3 1333 with 2x 1gb DDR3 1333 totaling to 10gbs DDR3 1333. It is all apple issued ram. Would this be ok for the computer being that they are not all matched?
