Hey everybody,

I currently am using my 2007 2.4Ghz iMac, which I love. However, I am thinking about giving it to my fiancee' and buying the 3.06Ghz iMac refurb from apple.

I have heard about this yellow tinge issue and have researched it on macrumors, but it doesn't sound like it will bother me much.
I was going to upgrade the hell out of my current iMac, but by the time I do so, I might as well just pass the torch to someone else who can benefit. Do you think this refurb is a good purchase? It seems like a pretty decent step up from my current one.

Core 2 Duo or i3? 21.5" or 27"? There are many iMacs with 3.06GHz CPUs so some specification would be appreciated.

If your current machine satisfies your needs, then a refurb will since it's faster.

Thanks for the reply, I actually realized that but didn't have the time to reply until now.

Here it is.

Refurbished iMac 21.5-inch 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 processor

21.5-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display
4GB memory
500GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB memory
Built-in iSight camera

That is the same build I just received today. I haven't even had time to open our first iMac yet...can't wait.

I looked at buying a used 21.5, due 3.06, Nvidia 9400 from Ebay, but they were going for close to $1000. For just a few dollars more, I was able to get the i3 refurb with the ati card for 1080 delivered.

That's a good buy if you're in need of a new computer. As I said, if your old one satisfied your needs, this new one will also do it. But faster.

I can vouch for the 3.06 being a worthy upgrade, but is the cost of your refurb considerably less than the new base-model i3? As the CPU is better and the GPU is much better, your probably going to be less likely to get a yellow screen too. depending on what your needs are it might be worth it?

I just got the 21.5 - 3.6 i5 referb and love it. Spent the money I saved on 8 gigs OWC ram, magic pad and some other accessories.
