Hey. I'm about to purchase a new iMac, but I don't know a thing about hardware. I'm torn between buying the 21" 3.06ghz with 8gb or the 3.20ghz with 4gb. I'm trying to figure out, which one would perform faster?

And, if I were to go with the 3.20ghz model, would it perform faster if I upgraded it to the 3.60ghz chip or if I upgrade it to 8gb of RAM?

Do what faster? What are you going to use the system for? Do you need the extra memory?

Get the most CPU you can afford off the bat. DO NOT buy additional RAM through Apple. You can always add more RAM after the fact MUCH cheaper but you can't update the CPU.

Oh ok, thanks alot for that info. I will mostly be using it for programming and development. So it looks like I will probably go with the 3.20ghz model then. I will mostly be using it for programming and development. So 3.20ghz with 4gb of RAM will generally perform faster than a 3.06 model with 8gb of RAM?
