does anyone notice the 3.1.2 update improves battery life?

my friend's iphone 3g and my 3gs has usage about 7 hours. nice improvement from usually 4.5 to 5 hours of usage with previous firmware.

do you have an improvement too?

What do you usually use your phone for and what are the settings?

yeah mine i think increased a bit, and I'm jailbroken/unlock and have jailbroken apps that run in the background.

a little gaming, browsing alot with safari and newsstand rss, beejive IM, jaadu vnc, sms and a little phone call.

wifi on.
3g on when the wifi is off.
push with mobile me on (mail, cal, address book).
location service off.
bluetooth off.
brightness about 45% with auto brightness on.
sbsettings with toggles, but NO mobile substrate apps installed (backgrounder and such).

im pretty happy with this firmware, and it's currently hitting 6 hours 53 minutes with 9% of battery left. it's so awesome!

here's the screenshot..

my cellular data network is pretty small because i currently at home, using wifi alot than 3g. the call time is pretty minimal too for the time being. but i usually have 1-2 hours of usage in phone call and the battery life is about 6 hours 30 minutes which is pretty good.

How was it on 3.1 for the 3G?

3.0 is about 4 hours 50 minutes.
3.0.1 skipped.
3.1 is pretty much the same.
3.1.2 is about 6 hours 40 minutes or 7 hours of usage (amazing improvement).

iPhone 3G
Brightness 50%
3G On
Mostly texting, some games and internet.

2.2.1 = 5 hours
3.0 = 6.5 hours
3.0.1 = 6.5 hours
3.1 = 4.5 hours
3.1.2= 6.5-7.5 hours depending on how much gaming.

I'm happy with this, it gets me through the day, with about 18-20 hours of standby.

i bet it's going to hit 8 hours and more for phone and sms use only, but can you resist for not using any other features with iphone in your hand? lol.

My gf's 3G gets a good 7hrs usage and thats with everything enabled. Push MobileMe/Notifications, Wifi left on, location services On....

My damn 3GS gets a good 3hrs usage with the same setup.

I guess mine improved. Yesterday I used about 4 hours of audio, about half an hour of gaming, about 5 minutes of phone, gps and I was about down to 20% with close to 7 hours I believe.

Mine is back up to where it should be (prior usage had dropped to 1day 10hrs max).

Just hit 20% warning:

3G - ON
BT - ON
LOC - OFF
WiFi -ON
Brightness - 30%

I will also claim improved battery life. My screenshots are very close to the above poster and I previously struggled to hit 6 hours Usage 1 day Standby.

edit: I was fed-up sitting at the Genius Bar last week. I'm glad I didn't have to replace my iPhone afterall.

2 hours of phone calls, some web browsing, lots of texting, some app store browsing, played a few games and used color splash. Most of the usage, probably 7-8 hours was Ipod usage. The reason for the long stand by time is I wanted to calibrate my battery so I needed it to drain "completely".

Some of the usage in this post is pretty amazing if it isn't mostly from Ipod use.

Something has gone horribly wrong with my battery life, yesterday I charged over night then unplugged it at 6.30 am, listedned to three songs on the walk to the tube station and then put the phone in my pocket and didn't look at it till lunch time when I noticed that the battery had gone down by more then 3 quarters.

Looking at the usage stats it said standby 6 hours and 30 minutes and usage was almost exactly the same. I restarted the phone and put on charge hoping that would be the end of it.

Again this morning unplugged at 6.30 listed to a few songs on the walk to the tube station and now at 9:15 the usage stats say useage 2 hours and 10 minutes, standby 2 hours and 49 minutes.

Anyone have this happen before?

How long does it usually take for the usage info to pop up? At the moment, mine's blank.

Only had it for 3 days, if anyone's interested. I've charged it a total of 3 times.

A heck of a lot more than what I'm used to!

Restoring your phone as a new phone solves battery issues for a lot of people.
