I know that most people that are happy with something don't post and those that are miserable do post.

But, it appears 3.1.2 still isn't worth getting. I saw an application update for an APP I have that requires 3.1.X (I am jailbroke and unlocked on 3.0.1).

Seems like it isn't worth it. I have no issues with 3.0.1.

What do you upgraders think?

I would at least go to 3.1. I always stay at or one OS behind the current one. 3.1 has worked fine for me and the jailbreak procedure is simple. :)

I disagree, most people I know that used 3.1 had multiple bugs that rendered the iPhone unusable at times. ( iPhone Coma for one example).

I think 3.1.2 is great. Check out my thread below for a list of pro's and con's to upgrading.

I went from 3.0.1 to 3.1.2 last sat. I wish I hadn't. Phone bat life is shorter 4me, at times sluggish (reboot helps) and seems to drop calls more often.

I just updated my 3GS from 3.0.1 JB to 3.1.2 JB a few days ago. I used a custom IPSW file created on my friends Mac. I think my battery life has very slightly decreased. Not really enough worth mentioning, but some decrease. Other than that, I've not had one issue with 3.1.2. I was holding off because I also had read several problems and tethering was lost. However, now that tethering is re-enabled for 3.1.2, I updated. I have no regrets in doing so.....I also have my 3.0 ECID on file with Cydia so downgrading isn't a problem for me if I do find problems.

same here, i just recently upgrade to 3.1.2 like 2 days ago. i was on 3.0.1 jb for a while. battery life seems the same to me. i didnt restore before updating. i was able to jb 3.1.2 and have tethering enabled.

If you have a 3G - I'd say either stick with 3.0.1, or move to 3.1.2. 3.1 was a train wreck for the 3G.

Thanks-and DJAMTRAX too-I was basically only asking because I now have ONE app that requires 3.1X for an updated version.

3.0.1 seems to be fine-stable, unlocked, and I don't loose my carrier logo :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A400 Safari/528.16)

Yes sir, stick to 3.0.

What are you, the post police?

I DID read that thread and there was very little there. So I started my own. Chill dude, this is a forum for discussion...

I see. Never mind. Back to your original question, if there are no problems with your current software then stick to it. 3.1.x is rather unstable.

What specifically are your issues? I am still sitting on the fence here.

Also, next post after yours talks about battery life. I have never noticed a difference from one version to the next.

CAN the firmware actually affect battery life?

And-Does it make anything snappier ( :) )?-this line is a joke of course.

im on 3G 3.0.1 JB w tethering working great on the 6.0 CF. i dont see any need to upgrade now. only app i know i might use that requires is yelp. and another perk to having the 3.1.2 FW is it has a usage meter for tethering...which we dont have on 3.0.
